The purpose of the collaboration with Prof. Januszewska and Prof. Malec (UKM, University Hospital in Münster, Germany) was to create, improve and/or standardize illustrations of aortic surgeries performed and described by the surgeons.
My task was to analyze the available diagrams and photos of surgeries and make a simple-to-read set of illustrations. The whole thing took place in close contact with the pediatric cardiac specialists from the University Hospital in Münster, Germany.
The illustrations were published in the Guidelines for the management of neonates and infants with hypoplastic left heart syndrome: European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS) and the European Society for Pediatric and Congenital Cardiology (AEP).
